  1. Traditional Kitchen Design with a Modern Twist Traditional kitchen design is known for timeless elegance. It can showcase original features such as wooden beams or stone flooring in period properties and include many aspects to evoke classic style in modern properties. The good news is that traditional handmade kitchens needn't be gloomy, dated or stuffy, so if you're looking for a new bespoke kitchen in a traditional style without sacrificing its classic charm, there are a few ways of adding a modern twist to ensure a timeless kitchen for years to come. At Papilio bespoke kitchens, we have been designing, making and installing kitchens for our clients all over the southwest and beyond for over twenty years. We've compiled a few tips on creating a traditional kitchen with a modern twist to inspire your quest for a new handmade kitchen. A Neutral Colour Palette in a Kitchen Neutral colours like white, beige, and grey are a great way to create a clean and modern look, even if you choose traditional style kitchens such as shaker or mission kitchens. Using neutral colours allows other materials, such as marble or natural wood, to shine because they act as a backdrop for personality. We did precisely that for The Bath Kitchen project in the heart of Somerset. At the core of this project, we designed classic cabinetry painted in dark hues so that the architectural perfection of the cabinets

  2. would highlight their quality. We selected fine Carrara marble for the countertops, complimenting the parquet flooring to create a traditional kitchen with a modern twist. Modern Kitchen Appliances Modern appliances are essential in a classic contemporary kitchen. They not only make life much easier, but they exude sophistication. Many of our clients are big fans of range cookers, which are the epitome of a traditional kitchen but also require ultra-modern ovens for efficiency. For our Georgian Townhouse Kitchen, we incorporated a LaConche range cooker with bespoke Westin extraction encased in a custom-made patinaed brass canape that omits a warm golden glow. Adding task lighting and Zip boiling water tap made the handmade kitchen traditional in its aesthetic but ultimately highly modern. Pops of Colour in the Kitchen Adding pops of contemporary colour is one of the best ways to add a modern twist to a traditional kitchen. The colours should complement the room's overall style, but contrasting tones will make the colour pop. We incorporated the same idea in our Bruton Kitchen project in Somerset. The property dates back to the 1600s, so the space featured original stone mullion windows, ancient oak beams, original flagstone flooring, elm doors and wonderfully wonky lath and plaster walls. All of which we did not want to hide. Instead, we used a sunny yellow for the central, free-standing kitchen island. We topped it with ancient elm timber, which our talented cabinet makers hand-finished to accentuate the grain. The traditional kitchen respected the home's provenance, yet the pops of colour added a much-needed modern twist. Modern Lighting Lighting can make a big difference in the overall look of your kitchen. Consider installing pendant lights to create a more modern atmosphere, even in a traditional kitchen. We chose the iconic In The Tube, 360° light, designed by Dominique Perrault & Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost, to add a modern twist to our Georgian Manor House kitchen project in Somerset. The spectacular light was installed above the handcrafted kitchen island to create a thoughtful statement. Hung horizontally, the LED and aluminium light is industrial in its aesthetic yet delicate and warming. Perfect for prep work, this iconic light is beautiful and functional yet makes a bold and modern statement. We love traditional handmade kitchens, but they needn't feel dated. They can be classic, charming, and exude a modern twist that reflects you and your home. For More Information Visit Here: Click here for visit our website: https://wearepapilio.co.uk/
