DEFINITION OFCYBERCRIME • Cybercrime – or e-crime, or high-tech crime includes criminal activities in which computers and other IT equipment and computer network are subject, tool, target or place of crime III.   3. HISTORY OFCYBERCRIME • The first recorded cybercrime took place in 1820 when a textile manufacturer Joseph Marie produced the loom that uses pasteboard cards with punched holes. This programmable machine was sabotaged by his employees and competition • The first spam e-mail took place in 1978 when it was sent out over the ARPANET • The first virus was installed on Apple computer in 1982 III. CATEGORIES OF CYBERCRIME • Property - the hacker steals a person’s bank details to gain access to funds, make purchases online or run phishing scams to get people to give away their information • Individual - distributing malicious or illegal information online (cyberstalking, distributing pornography and trafficking) • Government - crime against the government is also known as cyber terrorism (hacking government websites, military websites...) CYBERCRIME LEGISLATION WORLDWIDE • Convention of cybercrime - Budapest Convention of Cybercrime is the first international treaty on crimes commited via Internet and other computer networks which entered into force in 2004 • Paris, November 2018 - representatives of 50 countries and more than 150 companies signed a cyber-fighting agreement and it was supported by members of the EU, Japan and Canada, as well as Microsoft and Google III.
