Congruent Angles- two angles with the same measure • Example • Given: Angle 1 is congruent to angle 2 measure of angle 1=2x+15 measure of 2=3x-2 • Find X • Therefore: • 2x+15=3x-2 • X=17
Bisector- the ray that separates the given angle into two congruent angles. • Theorem 1.4.1: There is one and only one angle bisector for a given angle.
How to Construct a Bisector • With a compass, mark an arc to intersect both sides of the angle. • Mark an arc from the previous intersect to inside the angle. • Repeat from other side of the angle. • Draw a line from where the intersecting arcs meet to the vertex.
