Paragraph 1: Introduction • Begin your essay by introducing the purpose/goal of the essay • Prepare the reader for the information you plan to present in the following paragraphs.

Paragraph 7: Conclusion • Close your essay by demonstrating to the reader that you accomplished what you said you would do in the introduction. • Remember: A conclusion is the opposite of the introduction. The introduction begins general and ends specific; whereas the conclusion begins specific and moves to the general.
