Requirements to participate • Completed athletic packet • Copy of insurance • Concussion Course Certificate • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course Certificate • Heat Illness Prevention Course Certificate • Sports Physical • AHEC is on campus every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher • MCSD Consent & Authorization for random drug testing

MCSD Drug Testing Procedures • District-wide drug testing will be implemented in the 2018-2019 school year for all athletes in season and students participating in performance groups in accordance with policy 2431.04. • Each athlete and performance group member will be assigned a number. • The district will use a random number generator to select which athletes/performance group members will be tested that month. • If selected, students will be brought to the AHEC clinic to provide a urine sample and the AHEC nurse will identify the results. • If the result is positive, the sample will be taken to the court house to be retested to verify the results. • If the result is negative, students will return to play immediately. • If the results are positive, students will be subject to suspension from athletic participation. • Students may Refuse to participate in drug testing, but this will forfeit their eligibility to participate in athletics or any performance groups for the remainder of the current school year. MCSD Drug Testing First Positive Test/Use: • Students who test positive will be suspended from participation for 10 school days (scheduled contest days that fall on weekends, holidays or breaks will count towards the 10 days). • Students are required to attend practice during the full ineligibility period. They will sit out of practice and watch for the first 5 days of the suspension then begin participating in practices for the last 5 days of the suspension. • Students are required to complete a minimum of 3 hours of drug/alcohol counseling. If additional counseling is recommended, students will be required to continue counseling until released by the counselor. • Students must also agree to submit to subsequent school-based drug tests. Heat/Hydration Issues Hydration • Things to Eat • Pasta, Sandwiches, Bananas, Protein shakes, Soups. • Drink Gatorade, and Water. • Coco Water • Food to avoid • Fried foods • Sodas • A lot of Juice • Definitely Energy Drinks. Tips to prevent heat issues • You can sweat up to 2.5 Liters in1 hr of practice. That’s more than a coke bottle. • Drink Water and Gatorade before, during, and after practice. • Eat at least 3 good meals a day with 2-3 snacks. • Wear light color clothing or dry fit. • Pour water over head or neck when possible.

We will provide guidance and training for all student-athletes, but youractions will determine whether or not you play at the next level!
