PRM and support equipment are loaded onto the VOO Not pictured: Search, mooring, intervention END: VOO transports PRM and holds position over Disabled Submarine (DISSUB) while PRM transports 16 rescuees per trip to the VOO PRM and associated equipment including life support and medical supplies are loaded on transport aircraft (C5, C17, Antonov)

SUBMARINE RESCUE CHAMBER FLYAWAY SYSTEM • Downhaul cable attached to hatch using ADS (or ROV) • SRC reels down to DISSUB , buoyant ascent • 2 Operators / 6 Rescuees per trip • 850 ft (256 m) max depth
Falcon - Mission = Rescue - 2 Crew / 16 Rescuees - 2,000 ft (606 m) depth limit
SRDRS Operations to Date • Numerous manned dives • 26 Mates to submarines • 20 Mates to training fixture at 600 m depth • 12 mates to training fixture at 150 m
SRDRS Status Phase 1 – ADS was certified in 2006 and accepted by the fleet in 2007 Phase 2 – RCS was certified and accepted by the fleet in 2008 Phase 3 – TUP is anticipated to deliver sometime in 2015

CHILEMAR III ADS/PRM ops Simulated rescue with a bottomed Chilean submarine, the CS Carrera, off the coast of San Diego First time DSU has performed open hatch operations with a Scorpene class submarine
