Design Constraints Purpose: replace Larry Genalo’s Materials Engineering demonstration kit • Want to hold and transport around 50 lbs of materials • Integrate into demo by standing on completed container
Design • Edges & corners will see the largest stress concentration • Double layer of plies at these points • Risk of sides buckling while standing on top for demo • Used foam core to increase bending stiffness

Problems Encountered • Thin layer of plaster is infused with interior surface. Complete removal will damage inner wall • Use release agent or release film • Difficult to create smooth fiber layer around complex geometry • Cut plies to exact shape • Use different manufacturing method • Ran out of epoxy - top edge of container was unfinished
