  3. CIMI定義 CIMI即是『博物館資訊電子交換聯盟』（Consortium for the Computer Interchange of Museum Information）的簡稱。 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  4. 博物館的定義 • 起源： • 起源於約公元前300年亞歷山大城的繆斯廟（Mouseion） • 博物館的英文「Museum」，就是源於希臘語的繆斯廟「Mouseion」 • 定義： • 依國際博物館協會的定義：博物館乃一非營利之永久性機構，在其所發展與服務的社會，對公眾開放，以學習、教育、娛樂為目的，蒐藏、保存、研究、傳播與展示人類及其環境的物質證據。 • 功能：典藏、研究、展示、教育四大項。 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  5. 博物館的資訊類型 • 藏品資訊(Collection information) • 有關該藏品的描述資或文獻 • 如：登錄資料、目錄、影像檔 • 博物館學資訊(museological information) • 和藏品有關的活動資訊 • 如：保存、展覽、學術研究、教學、發展與交流等資訊 • 業務資訊(Business information) • 和藏品管理相關的資訊 • 入藏、合作、財務與人力資源…等 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  6. 圖書館 vs.博物館之資訊組織 • 圖書館 • 編目規則、機讀格式、分類法、標題表、索摘 • 處理之資訊性質相似，較易標準化 • 可分享編目資源 • 博物館 • 典藏品具多樣性且彼此間異質性高 • 典藏品多獨一無二、舉世無雙的原件資料，無法編目資源分享 • 透過Z39.50，以存取、選擇與檢索 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  7. CIMI 成立背景 -1 • 緣由： • 推廣資訊的利用價值 • 達到資訊傳遞、教育推廣之目的 • 1980年代，博物館之資訊專家學者體認到，為使資訊有效提供使用者檢索利用，制定相關標準化規範的重要性。 • 1990成立『博物館資訊電子交換聯盟』(Consortium for the Computer Interchange of Museum Information，簡稱CIMI) 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  8. CIMI 成立背景 -2 • 任務： • 推動資訊，有效於網路上流通與利用 • 支援描述標本文物、影像資料格式之標準化制定，使各資料間互相傳遞與共享 • 協助尚未採用新科技之博物館得以進行相關之自動化計畫及開發數位化資料庫 • 建立各博物館間良好的溝通管道 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  12. CIMI 計畫 • Projcets • During the 1990’s • 2000 to 2002 • 2003 to 2004- ongoing projcets - Handscape Project: Handscape WhiteSite- XML Schema for SPECTRUM • 目的： • 制定博物館資訊電子交換標準 • 促進博物館資訊交流與共享 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

CHIO 展示系統計畫 (Initial Agreement on Standards) • In the 1993 document： • SGML (Standard Generalised Markup Language) for structuring information • ANSI Z39.50 for search and retrieval • In 1994： • 進行CHIO (Cultural Heritage Information Online)計畫，主要傳送10,000筆以上有關文化資產展示資訊 • 對CIMI結合SGML及Z39.50二大國際標準進行測試 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  14. CHIO Structure -1 • 使用SGML將全文資料、物件記錄與影像做標誌 • 制定處理博物館資訊的標準格式DTD (Document-Type Definition)，稱為CIMI-DTD • 描述項目以標示(tags)方式，將全文資料的內容中標示出來 • 也可用來標示物件記錄及人名記錄等欄位化資料 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  15. CHIO Structure -2 • 為了發展CIMI-DTD，需發展a set of access points • 從博物館資訊中抽出與該物件有關之名稱、人名、事件等主題，作成檢索點(Access Points)，稱CIMI Access Points • 是Z39.50中CIMI屬性集（CIMI Attribute Set）的基礎 • CIMI Attribute Set即是CIMI記錄中的描述項目 • CHIO Access Points 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  16. CHIO Structure -3 • CIMI-DTD • 採用TEI (Text Encoding Initiative)架構 • TEI Lite為人文學文獻所設計的基本欄位(elements) 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  17. CHIO Access • 利用Z39.50使用者可用單一的界面，檢索異質的系統、資料庫 • CIMI Profile： • 測試CIMI Profile在Z39.50之可行性 • 目的： -資訊流通 -有效檢索文件資訊 -建立異質資源間描述記錄與原始物件的連結(hyperlink) 之方式 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  18. CHIO II 資訊探索計畫 -1 • 試驗在不同位址(location)上檢索博物館資源之有效性 • 協助博物館相關單位利用各項標準檢索博物館資源 • 開發博物館重要資訊內涵 • 謀求國際間之博物館合作，制定相關標準，以達資訊的有效檢索與利用 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  20. CIMI支援CHIO II的子計畫都柏林核心集元資料試驗計畫 • 選用Dublin Core之原因： • 簡單易用 • 延伸性強 • 廣為國際接納 • 目的： • 評估Dublin Core應用於博物館資訊記錄上的可行性 • 促進國際上使用Dublin Core作為資訊描述格式標準之共識 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  21. CIMI支援CHIO II的子計畫國際性Z39.50合作計畫 • 促使博物館間之系統能與其他相關資源相容或互通，使用共同的檢索介面 • 參與計畫機構：包含台灣大學以「台灣大學電子圖書館與博物館計畫」申請 • 是唯一的亞洲國家 • 臺灣平埔族原住民史料 • 關係中文電子博物館及圖書館資訊的國際交換 • 希望能達到國際性博物館的資訊交流與共享 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  22. CIMI支援CHIO II的子計畫整合資訊管理計畫 • 於1997年，進行研究分析博物館應如何管理及使用館藏資源與其他數位化資訊 • 新的資訊服務來自於與藏品有關之資訊，而非在藏品本身 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作

  24. Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) • A handheld tour for the contemporary craft exhibit at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery. CIMI Handscape/Intel provided initial seed funding for the design and evaluation of this program. Coordinated by Claire Larkin.   25. Johnson Museum's Discover China Tour for third-grade students • A handheld tour for the third grade rural school district in upstate New York at the Herbert F. Johnson Art Museum. CIMI Handscape/Intel provided seed funding for the design and evaluation of this program. Museum program coordinated by Leah Walzak. Evaluation coordinated by the HCI Group at Cornell University. XML-SPECTRUM Schema • Beginning in 2003 • The Museum Documentation Association (MDA), owners and developers of the SPECTRUM data standard has taken over responsibility for the CIMI XML Schema for SPECTRUM • On behalf of the international museum community, CIMI has been contributing to the development of a Document Type Description (DTD) for mda’s(The Museum Documentation Association, 簡稱MDA) international museum standard for describing objects called “SPECTRUM”; a well-known and widely-used standard in the museum world. • for managing and recording museum collections • 參考網站 吳雅瑜/黃淑珍製作
