Afghan Wedding Celebration Differentiated Instruction using the Backward Design Method
Functional Objective • By the end of lesson students will be able to identify the names of different ceremonies and the customs followed in Afghan wedding, they will be able to use the learned vocabulary, and will invite their friends (via phone) to the wedding.
Stage 2 • Activity 1 & 2: Students will be presented with pictures, and each student will be given a card to draw the event of wedding which they have participated. Activity 3: Work with class fellow and know from each other their traditions and customs of "how they celebrate" what they like and dislike in it. (Group Discussion) How do you celebrate wedding in your culture? (Practice) How do you invite people in a wedding ceremony?

Activity (IPA and Differentiated Learning) • Guided Practice: Students will be given specific pictures of different wedding celebrations. And they will be given True/False question Integrated Performance Assessment. (IPA) • Using Wikispaces to upload via SlidShare the pictures of Wedding ceremony (Proposal, Nekah, Shab-e-Kheena)
Matching Game • The students will work with partners and practice the matching game, and will use the cards to match different ceremonies with correct vocabulary.
Closing Activity • Quiz will be given to students. • Search in internet, (Afghan Wedding Ceremony Customs), and learn about the Wedding ceremony the stages (Proposal – Marriage – Happy Life) Wikispaces and use the Pictures to prepare a Slideshare.
