BTEC Level 3 A levels/Pre U BTEC Level 2 Equivalent to 1 or 2 A levels BTEC Business with GCSE English and Maths AS: Year 12 (for some) A2: Year 13 Pathways 100% coursework Combination of exams and coursework 1 year course Graded Distinction * Distinction Merit and Pass Graded (A-E at AS) A*-E at A2

  7. Affects all Year 12 students on all BTEC courses. (Business, ICT, H&S Care, Medical Science) • Students can have ONE set of feedback on each assignment they hand in IF they meet the deadline. They then have 10 days to hand in a second and final draft after receiving feedback. • If they miss the deadline they will not have an opportunity to do a second/improved draft. • If they fail an assignment there is an opportunity to do a DIFFERENT assignment which only addresses Pass criteria so means that a Pass is the highest grade they can then achieve in that unit. This is their FINAL chance, they can only hand in one draft of this assignment. • If they fail any assignments after being given this final opportunity it means they have failed the whole course as students must achieve at least a Pass in EVERY assignment in order to pass the course. New BTEC Rules

  9. 8:30 AM registration 8:45 period 1 9:45 period 2 10:45 break 11:05 period 3 12:05 period 4 1:05 lunch 2:05 period 5 (3:05 twilight lessons) Daily Routine • Briefing every Wednesday week A at 8:30am • Enrichment and employability Wednesday afternoons • If a student has an RGS lesson p1, they do not need to attend AM registration / briefing.

Their tutor will be their daily support and guidance - they need to make the most of it! • An opportunity to explore choices for the future. • Hear about opportunities which will enhance their prospects of achieving their aspirations. • Both AM reg and core programme are compulsory sessions, attendance is non-negotiable. Morning Reg. & Core Programme

All time tabled sessions + assembly and tutor time is compulsory • Expectation is 95% attendance • Reporting illness – daily (by parent) • Absence in advance (by student) • Examples of unauthorised absence • Driving lesson • Part time work • Holidays • Routine medical appointments • Leisure activities e.g. Glastonbury • Texting parents Attendance Absence Line 0117 919 8105

Each student assigned SBS • During SBS students have to remain in school • They can use this time to: • Complete home work • Review notes • Read ahead • Organise notes • Discuss work with classmates • Revise for tests School Based Study • Where they are allocated Upgrade, this time must be spent in this space. • Any blank period on a time table students should still use for study • They are not obliged to stay in school for these sessions… • But we advise that they do! • Signing out

  15. Unifrog • We launched the all new exciting Unifrog network last week. • It helps students audit the skills they will develop through enrichment activities preparing them for life after Post 16.

  18. This bursary can be applied for by students whose parents/carers have an income of below £22,500 • It can help with: • Travel (paid in full) • Books, trips, equipment, uni open days….. • Free school meals (likely you will be eligible) • Library deposit waived The Bursary

  22. Get organised from day 1 and don’t forget about deadlines! Use your study periods to keep on top of your work – don’t waste it Buy a really loud alarm clock! Don’t be scared to admit if you don’t understand something Voice of Hindsight Talk about what you have learned with your classmates after lessons Talk to your teachers for help – they’re really helpful! Buy a ring binder and ask your teacher to go through notes organisation Don’t be put off by the first two weeks – it does get easier!
