  1. Hunting Leases In Alabama Remain Popular Few hunters are that fortunate that they own the land on which they hunt their favorite animal, be that the white-tailed deer that so many hunters prize, or a choice of birds that wing-shooters prefer. In the South, in states such as Alabama, hunting has been popular ever since the dawn of time. In recent years, with a much more sophisticated approach to hunting, conservation and ethical behavior, for example, more is being done than in the past to promote healthy, ethical hunting practices. This means there is a drive to ensure the industry meets certain standards, and care is also being taken to ensure that ethical hunting is prompted among younger generations. Therefore more articles are being written and hunters are more aware of good practice than in the past. It has also seen the emergence – and development – of the hunting club. Hunting clubs are ideal for promoting responsible hunting, and they are often the ideal platform for hunters to join when they are looking for a hunting lease. Hunting leases are offered by landowners – or their agents and consultants – to hunters that are interested in visiting their land for the experience of a lifetime. But it goes further than that. Landowners know that their land and animals may soon be depleted if they simply hand out leases to make a quick buck. Leases that are handed out uncontrolled, or leases that do not consider ethics, may soon see landowners not being able to compete with other landowners and the leases they offer. Hunting leases that are well administered and organized are the ones that will be attractive for both the landowner and the hunter. The best way, still, for landowners, is having their leases administered by an independent service such as a wildlife conservationist or consultant that knows where to find the best clients. And for hunters the advantage is found in knowing there are leading services that offer good leases to the public, often offered as membership of a hunting club. In the past leases may have been handed out indiscriminately, but that has changed. Landowners know they can only benefit from the services of a reputable management company or consultant who will introduce them to good clients, and hunters know that the best among these services can be trusted to offer them great leases, and membership of clubs that will offer members various advantages, such as the best leases in a region where they are likely to find the best prey, being a member of a group of people with the same ideals and more. Once you feel comfortable in a club, you may want to remain since other factors start to play a role: friendship, sharing of costs and harvest responsibilities and the knowledge that you can return in the future for the same lease – or another if that is what the group decides they want to do. Landowners have options in terms of which they can choose the best manager for their leases too. In Alabama some of these services stand out for knowledge, experience and professionalism. They may assist the landowner with issues related to management services of their habitat, as well as with various administrative requirements. Some of these include hunting lease evaluation pricing; selecting only quality hunters to offer leases to; internet-based advertising and marketing leases and making sure lease customers meet compliances and expectations. Hunters, too, know that a good management company will offer them only good leases on good land, and they know that, if they join a hunting club administered by such a service, they will benefit from the knowledge that they are offered a great lease. This interaction is successful when leases are administered by a good management consultant – for the benefit of both the landowner and the hunter.
