Faith: a call to persevere in faith and patience waiting for God • Genesis 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. • Genesis 12:7 “To your offspring I will give this land.” • Genesis 13:15-16 …I will give to you and to your offspring forever. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. • Genesis 15:4-5 “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” … “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them. … So shall your offspring be.”

And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. • Genesis 29:31 the LORD … he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren. • Genesis 30:2 Jacob … said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?” • Genesis 30:22 Then God remembered … and God listened …and opened her womb.

Faith: a call to persevere in faith and patience waiting for God • Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. • Col 1:10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. • 2Ti 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. • Tit 3:1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, • 2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. • Tit 2:14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. • Tit 3:8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. • Tit 3:14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. • 1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. • 2Co 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. • Heb 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

Faith: a call to persevere in faith and patience waiting for God • Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may seeyour good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. • I Peter 4:11… whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies––in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

And he went in to Hagar, • Genesis 3:6 …, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.

  12. Family: role of husband as protector and leader • Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, • In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. • ~Ephesians 5:25, 28

Glory: God’s glory displayed in his love for the nations • Romans 15:5-9 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. • Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.”
