Overarching themes and Comments An Aspirational Plan • Innovative and visionary – beyond the bare minimum. Set an aspirational tone for the next 20 years. • What can we learn from other cities – best practices.
Overarching themes and Comments Growth Strategy – aka Urban Village Strategy • Support growth estimates by Urban Center as shown in Phase 1 (being considered in 2014/15 annual amendments) • Support Industrial Lands and recognize the regional role these areas play • Recognize the great work of the Equity Appendix

Overarching themes and Comments Recommendation: Single Family areas need to allow for more flexibility in development. Element: Growing Seattle, Land Use, Transportation, Housing SPC historically supportive of increased development within walking distance of frequent and reliable transit
Overarching themes and Comments Recommendation: Clarify the role of Urban Villages/Urban Centers on the Future Land Use Map Element: Growing Seattle and Land Use City adopted growth strategy states that Urban Villages/Centers are “Areas of Change”.

Overarching themes and Comments Document Readability • How does each element serve the core values? • Planscape • Limit redundancy and use terms consistently throughout Plan • Incorporate graphics (tables/charts) and call out boxes expectation that these will be included in the public draft. • Make document electronically searchable. • Include links to implementing plans and clear language as to how the Comprehensive Plan helps guide this work.
Overarching themes and Comments Additional Resources and Work Items: • Study of C1 and C2 Zones throughout the city. • Study on flexibility in Single Family. • Study on increasing the amount of Multi-family. • Mitigation described in Equity appendix for growth strategies may require additional resources. • A more interactive/graphic/readable document will require adequate resources to produce.
