  1. How to Have Beautiful Feet Romans 10:8-15

  2. The is one radical word. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

  3. Romans 10:1-4 “Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”

  4. Hollow Zeal, Empty Gospel • Being religious is not enough. • We can only counterfeit righteousness. “they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.” (Romans 10:2-3)

  5. Hollow Zeal, Empty Gospel • Being religious is not enough. • We can only counterfeit righteousness. “In this system of thinking, faith is a matter of taste, not of truth. The cardinal sin, therefore, is to claim that one person’s belief is true and another person’s belief is false.” (David Platt, Radical, page 141)

  6. The Radical Truth • All have sinned and earned condemnation. “The innocent guy doesn’t exist . . . in Africa or anywhere else. . . We give the man in Africa or the woman in Asia or even ourselves in America far too much credit. There are no innocent people in the world just waiting to hear the gospel. Instead there are people all over the world standing guilty before a holy God, and that is the very reason they need the gospel.” (David Platt, Radical, page 147)

  7. The Radical Truth • All have sinned and earned condemnation. • You cannot redeem yourself. “they pursued salvation not by faith but as if it were by works.” Romans 9:32 “they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” Romans 10:2

  8. The Radical Truth • All have sinned and earned condemnation. • You cannot redeem yourself. • True righteousness is found only in Jesus. “Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.” Romans 10:4

  9. The Radical Truth • All have sinned and earned condemnation. • You cannot redeem yourself. • True righteousness is found only in Jesus. • Everyone who calls on Jesus will be saved. • Without Jesus people are separated from God.

  10. Romans 10:8-15 "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

  11. Romans 10:8-15 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

  12. Having Beautiful Feet • Begins in your heart, ends with your mouth. “Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.” Romans 10:1

  13. Having Beautiful Feet • Begins in your heart, ends with your mouth. “I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, 4 the people of Israel.” Romans 9:2-4

  14. Having Beautiful Feet • Begins in your heart, ends with your mouth. • We are all part of proclamation. “And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent?” Romans 10:14-15

  15. Having Beautiful Feet • Begins in your heart, ends with your mouth. • We are all part of proclamation. • We are God’s plan for reaching his lost children.

  16. “This is a cause worth living for. It is a cause worth dying for. It is a cause worthy of moving urgently on. We have the gospel of Christ in us, and we do not have time to waste. Some wonder if it is unfair for God to allow so many to have no knowledge of the gospel. But there is no injustice in God. The injustice lies in Christians who possess the gospel and refuse to give their lives to making it known among those who haven’t heard. That is unfair.” David Platt, Radical, page 159

  17. Challenge: Share the real thing.

  18. Challenge: Share the real thing.

  19. Challenge: Share the real thing. “The will of God is for you and me to give our lives urgently and recklessly to making the gospel and the glory of God known among all peoples, particularly those who have never even heard of Jesus.” David Platt, Radical, page 160
