  5. Includes 4 main sections

  6. School Experience Survey • Takes place each spring • All elementary school parents, all staff, and students as young as 3rd grade participate • Results are reported in aggregate form on the School Report Card • Separate 20-page reports are available online

  7. What are response rates? • A response rate is the percentage of people who, when given a survey, complete it • Response rates are calculated by dividing the number of people who complete a survey by the number of people who received it • All elementary parents received a survey • Around 25% of secondary parents received a survey • Why are response rates important?

  8. Response rates for all groups increased in 2009-10

  9. What parents across LAUSD told us • More than 80% of parents said they received a School Report Card • Almost 90% said it was easy to read • Almost 90% said it helped them become involved in their children’s education
