Fruit/Veggie Tips • The heavier the fruit or veggie, the more water it has; the fresher it will be. • To pick strawberries and most other fruits, smell them and choose the ones that smell the freshest. This is a sign of maturity. • The brighter the color of fruits/veggies, the more phytochemicals they contain, which are essential nutrients for good health.
Preparing Fruit/Veggies • When you bring a pineapple back from the store, turn it upside down for an hour to let the juice distribute throughout the fruit. • To eat a banana, open it from the bottom where there is no stem. • If you need to peel a tomato, boil it first, it loosens the skin so you can just remove the skin.
Microwave Tips • Stay clear of using plastic ware, as they release dioxins (carcinogens, highly toxic) into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. • When heating up some leftovers, put a little glass of water on the microwave plate to add some moisture to the food.
Soft Cookies • When you make a batch of cookies, break a piece of bread and mix it with the cookies in your cookie container and the cookies will absorb the moisture from the bread, keeping them soft longer.
