  2. The “look” of a Competent Teacher • Appearance-what is it for a PE teacher? • Posture-what should it be like? • How do I stand to show concern/dissatisfaction/approval? • How do you show authority? Is in the face necessary or the best? Can I do it?

The “Actions” • Your actions will contain the situation, improve the situation, or cause the incident to escalate. • Stay calm in a blow up- your anger usually does nothing good except when it is a - • Your body position–are you ready? close or far away, straight or angled? • Keep hands off - Never get physical unless unavoidable or the safety of individuals are in jeopardy • Speak softly but carry a big stick-Know what actions are acceptable at your school and how the “bad” situations are to be handled.
