  2. Key crew and cast list • Rebecca Edge- Scriptwriter, Director and star (Madam). • James Edge- Script consultant, star. • Edward Pinch- Camera man, star.

  3. Directors Statement: I found it very difficult to think of a subject for my television idea, so I tried to focus on what my favorite films involve: Deep emotion, a lonely protagonist feeling like they don’t belong, mature beyond their years and often dark or of the cuff plot points. I found it easier to write by putting myself into the story, making Madam a loosely based character of myself. I want to show, mainly, that mental problems are not spoke about openly, and showing that there are all these teenagers with problems that they feel they can’t share just isn’t right. Madam the main character is just bringing them all to light by her Father, basically exploiting her. It has many aspects of different films but overall it is based off- Heathers, Charlie Bartlett, The Truman show and Freaks and Geeks. It developed from just having her giving pills to problematic students to her personally deciding whether she should give them the right pills, lead by the involvement of the new kid ‘Hyde’, this gives her a power than no teenage girl who is the biggest cynic should have. I am very passionate about telling this story, and telling it right.

  4. Synopsis Madam. She doesn’t get on with her parents- Who does? She’s vulnerable but self-righteous, some might go as far as saying a ‘problem child’ and her Father would go so far as to say ‘Mentally unstable’. In fact, he’s made a career on her ‘instability’ which has drove her further down the rabbit hole. His latest book has caused her to become the number one freak in the college and after the ridicule has subsided, students she wouldn’t ever speak to have started sending her anonymous notes pleading her to help them to make sure they don’t become just like her. Madam cannot help but give them advice and begins using her Fathers knowledge and her reputation of illnesses to get the kids the drugs/help they need! She finally gains a friend, somewhat- Hyde. He’s a mystery and opens up the concept that her ‘business’ can not only be used for good but also for evil.

  5. Characters • Madam is an eighteen year old girl struggling with the barriers that she cannot leave until a year away when college is over. She’s constantly looking toward the bigger picture and that in turn means having no time for her peers. Madam’s parents have criticized and insulted her for her entire life and this has made her very mature and self-righteous. • Madam’s parents will remain nameless and faceless, this is to push the theory that all parents are the same and having the identity just focused on what relationship they share with madam, makes it easier for others to relate to the feelings they have for their parents. Her Father only speaks to her when he needs questions answering for his books and even worse, her mother doesn’t speak to her unless she’s shouting at her. • Hyde is the closest thing Madam will have to a friend,

  6. Location/ Set design • I will use the college to its full potential and find many places to film including: the back of college for smoking scenes, the balconies when she’s sitting by herself, the library, our classroom, the rotunda and the toilets for when Madam is giving advice to the students. • My house will also be used for the shots of Madam with her parents, with them facing away from the camera, I will also use my bedroom for scenes with Madam, as this will be where she spends most of her time. • Eastham Ferry will also be used for montages, for example if she is walking home, it is a beautiful secluded place which will be important to develop Madam as a character.

  7. Budget • I will need to buy cigarettes- £4.50 • Lunch for the cast- £5.00 • Blue lights- £7.00 • A fake book for her Dad’s book- £1.00

  8. Risk assessment • Due to wanting to film down Eastham Ferry pier I will have to take precautions as there are no barriers and you could fall into the sea this will be especially important as you will have a lot of expensive equipment. • As Madam smokes marijuana and cigarettes as well as other characters, it is important to understand that these are dangerous and some of the cast will not be comfortable doing this, or being around it.
