First day of class! • Classes begin tomorrow, Tuesday, July 3. • Meet in front of Building CE5 at 8:30 to get your class schedule. Then we’ll take you to your classroom

Textbooks • You will need textbooks for most classes. • The names of the books will be on your class schedule. • You can buy your books at the UCI Bookstore.

Placement TestToday’s test has 100 questions: 20 about listening 80 about grammar, vocabulary, reading
Part-time students • If you have a tourist visa (not a student visa), your class hours must be less than 17 hours total per week • Please come and talk to me about which classes you will take.
Grading for both CC and BE: • Your classes receive letter grades. • A = 90%-100% • B = 80%-89% • C = 70%-79% • Failing = below 70% • D = 60% - 69% • F = < 60%
Attendance Policy Please attend class every day so that… • You will learn as much as possible. • You won’t have any visa problems. • You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.
Attendance Policy If you miss more than 14 total hours of classes… • You will not receive a certificate of completion. • You may be dismissed from the program.
Lateness Policy • Less than 15 minutes late = Tardy • 15+ minutes late = 1 hour absence • 3 Tardies = I hour absence
Institutional TOEFL Test • Thursday, July 26, 5:30 – 8:30 pm • Paper and pencil test (not the iBT TOEFL) • Cost: $50. • You may sign up for the test at the cashier window in Building CE3. • Your teachers will have more details. Deadline?
