The most common is to attend a 76 hr WMO WFR/WEMT full class and complete a minimum of 24 hrs training if within 2 yr period. Add 8 hrs for each year or part thereof over 2 yrs from last class. Pro rescuer CPR is required. CPR may be included in the 24 hrs. Pro CPR taken within the previous 6 months is acceptable. CPR is included in most WFR classes. You must successfully complete 4 scenarios if in 2 year expiration, 5 scenarios if in 3 yr, 7 scenarios if in 4 to 5 years. Passing a written exam is required for all recerts. Recerts are to complete 5 sets of vital signs on class members. The full WALS class plus CPR and written exam will re-certify your WFR/WEMT. WEMTs must have 24 hrs plus CPR.
NON WMO grads also may recertify Depending on the school you certified with, may effect how many hours you will need. All non WMO recerts should take Advanced airway session, Anaphylaxis session, oxygen session, wound closure session. NON WMO grads may test out of one of these. Less than 80% on that test requires taking that session or if missed in class taking a private $25 tutoring session. CPR professional level no more than 6 months old is required. Prerequisites: Proof of WFR certification (WFR card) showing date. Take a picture of your card with your Smartphone and email the photo proof to carl@wildernessmedicine.com Pro CPR: If your Professional 2-person CPR is more than 6 months old, you need a new one. Typically CPR is good for 2 years. You can do that as part of this course. You will need to be present on our CPR training and test night during the WFR Course. If you cannot be present on the CPR Dates during the WFR Course, to re-certify in CPR, you may need to purchase our separate CPR course.
