What are the indefinite articles? In the top, left box write: masculine un un crayon feminine une une radio plural des des cahiers
But what does it all mean? Write this in the top, right box: The indefinite article means: un, une – a or an un crayon – a pencil une radio – a radio des – some des cahiers – (some) notebooks des chats – (some) cats
Do I have to use the indefinite article? Write this in the lower, left box In French, a noun always has some sort of article or number in front of it. (It’s not like this in English.) Compare: I have dogs. (no article) J’ai des chiens. ( same sentence as above, but it has to have that article!)
Things change when the sentence is negative! Write this in the bottom, right box: If a sentence is negative (aka ne…pas), the un, the une or the des change to DE (d’) This only happens with the indefinite article!!!!!
Examples of negative + J’ai une voiture. - Je n’ai pas de voiture. + Vous avez des ordinateur. - Vous n’avez pas d’ordinateur. + Tu as une moto. - Tu n’as pas de moto.
