  1. GMMP Gliwice Worldwide Facilities Group Europe - GLIWICE Enviromental friendly plant

  2. Why do our energy bills rise ? What can we do to reduce energy cost

  3. Saving energy makes good business sense Many companies think of energy as a fixed overhead but saving energy is actually one of the easiest ways to reduce costs and improve your reputation. Save money - Simply by switching machines off after use, or turning the heating down in warm weather, you can make real savings on your energy bill. And just reducing it by 20% could add the same amount to your profits as a 5% increase in sales. Enhance your reputation - Increasing numbers of consumers and business customers will now only buy from, or invest in, companies with environmentally friendly policies and production methods. By demonstrating a commitment to reducing carbon emissions, you will increase your appeal in the market and attract a wider customer base. Stay ahead of government regulation -With climate change so high on the political agenda, we are likely to see more initiatives like the Climate Change Levy and the Emissions Trading Scheme, as well as tighter building regulations. Being prepared for these changes now will save you time and money when they are introduced. Plus, if you start saving energy straight away, you will immediately reduce the levy on your energy bill. 2nd of June, 2008 Page 3 GMMP

  4. How can we control our energy bills ? Quantity - control your energy consumption - improve your energy efficiency Econv. – decrease your energy price -buy energy on energy market (using possibility of TPA - Third Party Access ) D– optimize and control your energy demand PFCcos fi– improve your power factor E=Quantityx( Econv. + Excise + Ecolour + Network_var. ) + Dx (Network_fixed + Transition. ) + PFCcos fi

  5. Econv. -buy energy on energy market ( use – ThirdPartyAccess) What should be done to prepare energy contract : Grid Contract Separate electricity & grid contract Prepare electrical meters according to network distributor requirements Define maximum Capacity / annual volume : ……. MW ; ……...MWh Load Management Forecast available: yes, daily hourly forecast for next day Prepare load profile for supply period available yes Guarantee reliable commodity supply Obtain most favorable pricing structure Achieve acceptance of payment terms while limiting supplier credit requirements No credit/bank guarantee from company Reduce Take or Pay conditions as much as possible Confirm financial viability of selected supplier

  6. E- Electricity price decreasing - Energy ordering proces Energy ordering in GMMP Gliwice New contract of energy delivery based on hourly/ daily energy ordering Improving the hourly accuracy forecast –Creation of shop energy ordering system Increase of shop energy control Read only access: disk X Press Body Paint GA MPC Utilities Office network Metering station Gas modem Skome server Plant Energy Planners- WFG Oracle Data base

  7. E- Implementation of central energy monitoring system Replacement of energy measurement system with the modern one to meet free energy market requirement Connection to one common system – SKOME- information about plant and shops energy consumption and sharing the information about actual consumption to shop floor Using of ENERGY CONSERVATION screen saver to SD/SU procedure

  8. Quantity-Improve your efficiency with energy management

  9. Quantity- Energy consumption decreasing with energy management

  10. Energy saving in pumps systems • Reduction Strategy • Adjustment of capacity to minimum process necessity • Replace of flow regulations using throttling valves with more efficient regulations with frequency converters • Application of energy efficiency electrical drives • Replace old oversized pumps with modern adjusted to necessary capacity 2nd of June, 2008 Page 10 GMMP

  11. Optimization of energy management in cooling water systems • Installation of frequency converters for cooling water pumps in 3 circuits: Primary, Chillers, Body Shop & common master controller for all system improves efficiency of heat transfer system • Total saving - E saving > 2 000 MWh = 100 000 Eu - without investment cost (70 000 Eu) • PBT < 1 year 2nd of June, 2008 Page 11 GMMP

  12. Lighting Business Case Reduction Strategy How it Works - shorter time delay period for lamp warm-up to ensure stable operation of the lights, before switching to a lower energy saving voltage. • Implementation of LEC (Light Energy Controller) in fluorescent and metal halogen lighting circuits benefits: • Reduction of energy consumption 18 – 23 % • Extension of fluorescent lamps live – twice • Reduction of maintenance cost 2nd of June, 2008 Page 12 GMMP

  13. Compressed air usage reduction Compressed air consumption reduction – 25 % : Leakages reduction Pressure adjustment Compressors optimization 2nd of June, 2008 Page 13 GMMP

  14. Modification of HVAC control system • Modification of HVAC re circulation system : • Re circulation flap are operated to ensure: • Set up room temperature – 18 C in production and 20 C in office area • Not to freeze the HVAC system • Max fresh supply air • Heating system work only when room temperature is lower then allowed level • Recovery of warm air heat energy under roof 2nd of June, 2008 Page 14 GMMP

  15. Sample of utilities consumption optimization

  16. D- Optimize your power demand Sign grid contract with possibility to change ordered power Control your power demand ( 15 min. ) Optimize power demand if possible Change ordered power when required

  17. PFCcos fi - Check your power factor correction system The power factor of an AC electric power system is defined as the ratio of the real power flowing to the load to the apparent power , and is a number between 0 and 1 If the power ratio PFC > 0,4 , you pay penalty If supplying system is overcompensated , you pay penalty Check your bill If you pay for PF - check your reactive power corrective system

  18. What is worth remembering • Poland is not an island – there are international energy players, market convergence, energy price starts to follow-up oil price, • Further increase of correlation between Polish and European energy price changes • Low energy price is a history – IPPC regulation, CO2 emission trading, color energy duties, old energy infrastructure, necessity to build new nuclear/”0” CO2 emission power station, refurbishment of distribution network, • Active players can find interesting product • Energy management lead to energy consumption decrease • URE –authority control household energy tariff (40% of energy market) and distribution tariff

  19. How strong are relations between energy sector & industry Energy producer ,traders, distributors, ecological organization has a strong political lobby The industry consumers organization lobby should become stronger
