A Lesson of Jesus on Thankfulness – Luke 17:11-19 • TEN leprous men met Jesus & stood afar off • TEN leprous men raised their voices, asking for mercy • TEN leprous men were cleansed of their disease • ONE man (a Samaritan) turned back to Jesus • ONE man, with a loud voice, continually glorified God • ONE man fell down on his face at Jesus’ feet • ONE man continually gave thanks to Jesus • Jesus asked, “Were there not tencleansed?” • Jesus asked, “But where are the nine?”

God Commands Us to Be Thankful • “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” – Col. 3:15 • “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Col. 3:17; cf. Heb. 13:15 • “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” – Phil. 4:6 • “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thess. 5:18

God’s Reasons for Demanding Thankfulness • To remember (and not forget) our God! • Romans 1:21-25; 2 Cor. 9:15 • To remember that God is the giver of all good things! • James 1:17; Acts 17:25, 28; Psa. 68:19; 103:1-5 • To keep our problems in perspective! • Psa. 46:1; Heb. 13:5; Phil. 4:13 • To keep us from sinning! • Eph. 5:3-4; John 14:15 • To give us the peace that surpasses all understanding! • Phil 4:6-7; Matt. 6:31-32

  6. God’s Keys to Being Thankful • Pray • Study the Bible • Thank Him for waking me up • Obeying • Change your perception • Count your blessings not your problems • Be a good steward • Surround yourself with thankful people • Serve others

  7. God’s Keys to Being Thankful • Meditate daily • Being more thankful for health • Be thankful for God’s Word • Be more aware of our blessings • Be grateful for what you have • Sing praises

God’s Keys to Being Thankful • Remember to balance troubles & blessings – Isa. 41:10 • Remember the spiritual blessings you have – Eph. 1:3 • Remember who your Father is – 1 Jn. 3:1-2; Psa. 50:10 • Remember who your Savior is – 2 Cor. 9:15 • Remember the home prepared for you – John 14:1-3 • Remember the church, your brethren – Phil. 1:3 • Remember to live in today – Matt. 6:34; Jas. 4:13-15 • Remember it is more blessed to give – Acts 20:35 • Remember the privilege of prayer – 1 Thess. 5:17-18

The Lesson for Us to Learn • Don’t be numbered among the missing • Don’t keep company with the ungrateful & unthankful • Remember that thanksgiving is “thanksliving” • Work at developing an attitude of gratitude • Count your blessings, not your worries • Might not deserve bad things, but not deserve good • Consider spiritual blessings even more precious • Your soul’s salvation is greatest blessing ever receive
