Our Mission The CSC provides leadership to identify resources, build capacity and maximize collaborative efforts to support healthy families and vibrant communities. • Focused on reducing the root causes of child abuse: • Poverty • Substance abuse • Exposure to domestic violence • Limited access to health care • Unsuitable housing
Core Programs Child Abuse Prevention Confluence – Nov 2016 • 40 community leaders • Educate & collect input on existing prevention efforts and opportunities
Core Programs April Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness • Public appearances and media coverage • Pinwheel gardens – 10 • Partnerships with local business • Outreach at Fairchild Auxiliary Health Fair
Regional Efforts Northern California Regional Child Abuse Prevention Councils Group • Participate quarterly with representatives of 7 counties to share information and ideas • Collaborate on regional efforts to raise awareness on related topics
Activities to Diminish Root Causes Siskiyou Healthcare Collaborative: • CSC is a charter member of the SHC • Collaboration with health care providers and related services designed to protect and enhance our community’s access to quality, affordable care. • Siskiyou uninsured rate went from 20% to 8% in 5 years
Siskiyou Anti-Trafficking Coalition • Facilitated the outreach and structure development development of a multi-agency coalition in support of the vision of co-founders Hannah Helms and Rachel Cole. • Assisted with planning and co-facilitated “Change the Culture: Human Trafficking 101” community forum with Rebecca Bender–March 2017
Darkness to Light – Stewards of Children • CSC staff provide outreach to coordinate community training sessions. • Certified Stewards of Children facilitators for the child sexual abuse prevention training. • Trainings conducted by CSC in 2017 included: • Mt. Shasta Police and Fire Departments • Siskiyou Substance Abuse Coalition • Siskiyou Anti-Trafficking Coalition • Boys & Girls Club of Siskiyou
Substance Abuse Coalition Coalition focused on substance abuse in youth • Re-energized in 2017 with 10 new sector representative • Strategic planning for effective workplans and funding options
Poverty Awareness Coalition • Formed new coalition with representatives of 11 agencies dealing with poverty in South Siskiyou County. • At the October 2017 meeting, members agreed to more formally establish their presence and plan to meet monthly beginning with development of a Mission and Goals.
Community Support • Development of the new family resource center network and liaison to their organizational development consultant through February 2017. • During the first six months of the 2016/17 FY we provided substantial support to the new family resource center network and the existing FRC’s in closing out the contracts with Siskiyou BHS for MHSA services.
Community Support • Assisting McCloud with convening and liaison services to determine the most effective delivery method of county and other community services. • Assisting Butte Valley CRC Board with facility closure details. • Legal and financial liaison • Short and long-term planning for continuance of community services
Fiscal Agent – Root Cause Activities Behavioral Health Task Group (BHTG): • BHTG, a subcommittee of the Siskiyou Healthcare Collaborative. • The BHTG is working towards better integration of mental health services and primary care services. • Funded by the Blue Shield of California Foundation and is in its 3rd year of funding.
Fiscal Agent – Root Cause Activities Siskiyou Against RX Abuse (SARA): • SARA, a subcommittee of the Siskiyou Healthcare Collaborative. • Working to reduce opiod abuse.
