PROGRAM GOALS • Raise the awareness of boating safety. • Increase PFD wear. • Help create a safer and more enjoyable boating • lifestyle. • Reduce the loss of life, injuries, and property • damage, due to boating accidents in Canada.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES • Promote Boating Safety and the need for education • Distribute education material (incl. 5 things you can do to • have a safe and enjoyable boating experience flyer in multiple • languages and TC Safe Boating Guide) • Promote the recreational boating lifestyle and safe and • environmentally friendly boating practices • Promote the wear of PFDs • Promote CPS, its image, the full range of courses and • seminars and member benefits

2009 RESULTS TO TARGETS • Recruited 150 individual volunteers to form 73 teams. • Target - 75 teams. • 120 trained in 2009. Balance had received previous • training under the old OBS PCCC program. • Target – all volunteers re trained. • We were not able to translate and produce the “5 • Things You Can Do” flyer.
2009 RESULTS TO TARGETS • Total number of contacts with boaters re RVCC • Check 700 approx. • Total number of RVCC check forms received: 640. • Target – 2400. • Total number of Safe Boating Guides and CPS flyers • distributed: 4000. Target 10,000.

VOLUNTEER INCENTIVE 2009 • Retain Salus Marine PFD for completion of minimum • 20 checks - Target 120 • 16 PFD’s delivered (late but now delivered) • 14 in Ontario • 1 in Atlantic • 1 in B.C.
2010 TARGETS • 75 TEAMS • 150 VOLUNTEERS • 3,000 RVCC CHECKS • 50% First Time; 75% under 9 Meters • 10,000 HANDOUTS (5 THINGS FLYER; SAFE BOATING GUIDES) • PROGRAM BUDGET - $57,330 shared Transport Canada - $42,997 (75%) CPS – $14,333 (25%)
VOLUNTEER INCENTIVE 2010 • Retain Salus Marine PFD for completion of minimum • 30 checks per person - Target 150
2010 STATUS TODAY • 5000 Inspection forms are being sent out. • 4000 Stickers ordered - to be received by the end of next week. • Adequate PFDs in stock for safety wear. • Regional coordinators requested for input on name tag requirements and sizes for PFDs. When received, name tags will be ordered and dispatched with PFDs. • Flyers translated in Cantonese, French and Russian. • Training sessions well underway • TC Funding approval received (3 years)
