Health and Wellbeing Boards • Allied to the transfer of Public Health to local government • Public Health have a foot in local government and (more than) a foot in health commissioning • This can be a powerful vehicle for integration • NHS Futures Forum looked at HWBs and encouraged a strengthened role on integrated working Where next for Health and Wellbeing Boards?

Health and Wellbeing Boards • Role in authorisation process for Commissioning Consortia and ensuring that commissioning plans of consortia are in line with JSNA and Health and Wellbeing Strategy • National vision that the HWB is the vehicle by which councils exercise their lead role in integrating the commissioning of health, social care and public health services to better meet the needs of individuals and families using the services. • New JSNAs and Joint Health and Well-being Strategies are key levers within this • If the HWB feels that commissioning plans have not had adequate regard to the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, they can write to the NHS Commissioning Board, or local authority outlining their reasons Where next for Health and Wellbeing Boards?
