Ownership • Celador Films are a part of a company who first started off in TV and were then taken over by Complete Communications. • In 1999 they expanded into radio, international businesses and films. • After this the company decided to sell off the company. • This allowed Celador Productions’ management to buy them out. • The company is well known for being associated with the popular TV show ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ • Their first production was ‘Dirty Pretty Things’ in 2002 which was directed by Stephen Frears. • Their most famous production is ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

  3. Operating Model How do the company make its films? Celador are a small production company. They make their films on a project-by-project basis and contract with freelance staff who make sure that the project is getting made and is right. The film was funded by loans to use in production. It was also funded companies will doing deals with other similar small companies in order of them to be able to get the things they need as well as promoting things from that company.

Products Films by Celador Celador have made a number of different films: • Dirty Pretty Things (2002) • Separate Lies (2005) • The Descent (2005) • Slumdog Millionaire (2008) • The Scouting Book for Boys (2009) • The Descent: Part 2 (2009) • Centurion (2010) There most popular film they made was Slumdog Millionaire which made £1,827,457 in the UK on its opening weekend. Celador Films are part of a whole company who do radio, international businesses, theatre and entertainment.

  5. Market Position & Competitors Marketing: Celador have both cinema releases and are in competition with other cinema releases. They also have DVD releases. Competitors: Celador are a small company however have released a number of films. DNA Films are also another British independent film company that Celador have to compete with in the industry. They are a fairly successful company who have produced successful films such as ’28 Days Later’ and ‘Love Actually’. As well as DNA Films there is also Film4 Productions who Celador share a link between TV and Film. They have produced films such as ‘Attack the Block’, ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ and ‘The Iron Lady’.
