Compressed tablets Compressed tablets are the most widely used of all pharmaceutical dosage formsfor a number of reasons. They are convenient, easy to use, portable,and less expensive than other oral dosage forms. They deliver a precisedose with a high degree of accuracy. Tablets can be made in a variety ofshapes and sizes limited only by the ingenuity of the tool and die maker(i;e , round, oval, capsule-shaped, square, triangular, etc.)
Preparing of Formulations Ibuprofen 400mg Avicel 4 % Corn Starch 10 % Polyvinylpyrrolidone 5 % Mg Stearat 1 % Natrii Benzoas 0.2 %
Reasons of Tablet Manufacture Tablets are in the solid state of matter Tablets vary greatly in shape Tablets vary as to types and usage Tablets vary in colour Convenience of transportation for the manufactured Tablet is an accurate dosage in which one tablet represent one dose Tablet is easy to use
Indications Analgetic with small anti-inflamation effect
Symptomatic Gangguan pada saluran pencernaan, lebih ringan dari aspirin, Indometasin, dan naproxen. Eritema kulit, sakit kepala, ambliopiatoksis yang reversibel (jarang terjadi). Nausea, muntah, tinnitus
Maximum Dosage First, 400 mg p.c/d.c then 3-4 times a day 200-400 mg
Reasons of Excipient Addition 1. Copovidone (Kollidon AV 64) • can be used as binder in DC and WG. • Has good adhesive, and elastic 2. Corn Starch • Good Affinity • Easy to be moisture • So helping in desintegration tablet • Cheep • Non toxic and non incomp
3. Mg Stearat Non toxic in oral use It is primarily used as a lubricant in capsule and tablet manufacture at concentrations between 0,25 % - 5,0 % w/w Insoluble at concentrations between ¼ - 2 %. Including water insoluble lubricant.
4. Natrium Benzoat Used as an antimicrobial preservative in a wide range of beverages, food and some pharmaceutical formulations. It is used concentrations of 0,02 – 0,5 % in oral medicines. The usefullness of sodium benzoate as a preservative is limited by its effectiveness over a narrow pH range.
5. Avicel At concentration between 5 – 95 % be used as diluent/binder. Avicel possesses the ability to function both as a binder and desintegran in some tablet formulas. It very useful in tablets which require improvent in cohesive strength.
