Abraham begins with a willing heart • Abram to God: “HERE AM I.” vs 1 • Later vs 11: “HERE AM I.” • Isa 6:8 “Here am I Lord, send ME.” • Prophecy: Isa 58:9 “Then shalt thou call and Jehovah will answer you ‘Here Am I.’ ” • Fulfilled: Matt 1:23 Immanuel • Literally: “I am Here”
Jesus and Isaac • Long awaited only begotten son. • Similar births – both miraculous! • Moriah • Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah (2 Chron 3:1) • Temple Mount!
Jesus and Isaac • Three days to carry out before Isaac is delivered . . . • Vs 5 “I and the lad will go yonder and we will worship and come again to you.” Statement of Faith!
NT Comment • Heb 11:17-19 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; 18 it was he to whom it was said, "IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED." 19 He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him backas a type. Where is the Lamb? • Abraham – “God will provide Himself the lamb . . .” • He doesn’t provide a lamb in Gen 22!

Jesus and Isaac • Willingly submitted to the Father’s will • Gen 31:42 "If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac . .
Jesus and Isaac • God would provide the sacrifice which would be willing to die to do the Father’s will.
As you partake . . . • God did not ask Abraham to do what He was not willing to do Himself! • This demonstrates His love for us.

James 2:21-24 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHT-EOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. Will you call out to God? • If so, God has responded saying “I am here.” • Jesus = Immanuel. • Do you believe in Him? • Your faith will be perfected when you obey and offer yourself to Him!
