  2. OVERVIEW NOTE: This training is simply an overview of CANOPY and only with continued use will you gain ease in navigating the web site for the information available. Overview to include: • What is Canopy? • Logging In • Welcome Screen • Using Search features • Selecting “Favorites” • Summary View • Detail View • Sorting • Downloading Information to Excel Next

  3. What is Canopy? Canopy is the web enabled version of FAMIS • FAMIS – The Financial Accounting Management Information System is used exclusively by The Texas A&M University System. • Canopy can only be used to retrieve information. No data entry is made in Canopy. • Canopy is accessed via the internet at: https://apps2.system.tamus.edu/canopyTwo/login.aspx Next

  4. LOGGING IN Same as FAMIS User Id & Password Next

  5. Welcome Screen Next

  6. These are the same. • Use pull down menu to select Fiscal Year; • Click on [Set CC/FY] button to activate selection. Next

  7. Move mouse over FRS, pull down menu will appear. Next

  8. Click on either one. Nice Feature! Next

  9. Click Same choices available here as with pull down menu when mouse floats over FRS tab above. Next

  10. Click List of available searches. Next

  11. Click • Search for account by: • Account number • Department • Responsible person • Account Title • Or any portion of the information. Then, • Click on Search Button Next

  12. Use slide bar to view full list of results. Next

  13. Click box to add accounts to “My Accounts” tab. • No need to perform search again. Next

  14. FAVORITE ACCOUNTS: • Personalized list of the accounts viewed most often. • Quick view of “bottom line” expenses and available balances for accounts listed in favorites. • Quick link to view account details. Next

  15. Click on account number to jump to summary tab. As mouse floats over hyperlinks, instructions will appear. Next

  16. Summary Tab = FAMIS screen 19 Defaults to current month. Click on any header to sort by that column! Next

  17. A B C • Open Commitments (Outstanding PO’s): • Original - Full amount of PO • Liquidated - How much has been paid against PO • Current - Original amount less payments A B C Next

  18. Choose the months to view Click on submit to reset view Transaction Tab = FAMIS screen 23 Next

  19. Click on any column header to sort. Click Instructions appear. Next

  20. Click on triangle to change sort order. Next

  21. Sort on Description column. Next

  22. Narrow search to one month. Choose date range - use pull down menus. Next

  23. Narrow search by subcode Next

  24. Download transaction details to Excel spreadsheet! Next

Additional Information • Security settings will prevent users from restricted information. • Click on any hyperlink and feel free to explore other areas and features. • No data entry means you cannot corrupt any information. • Don’t be afraid to “click – away”  • Statement of Responsibility. I also am aware that penalties exist for unauthorized access, unauthorized use or unauthorized distribution of information from FAMIS. • I agree further not to attempt to circumvent the computer security system by using or attempting to use any transactions, software, files or resources I am not authorized to use.
