Interesting Information • The spacecraft had traveled 302 miles (486 kilometers) from launch point. • The Redstone rocket launched the first American satellite into orbit. • Redstone was the first ballistic missile to launch a live nuclear bomb. • On the Mercury Redstone 2, a chimpanzee named Ham was a passenger! • Redstone earned the moniker “the Amy’s Workhouse.
