Focus Groups - Who Were They • 50First level supervisors and managers (clerical, SSMI, accountants, attorneys, disability analysts, etc.) • 12 Mid-Level Managers (their bosses) • 15 Promotional Candidates (those interested in promoting-potential participants)
Focus Group Purpose • Gather Data for the design of course content • Identify the most important skills to cover with prospective supervisors • Use info to show what the job is about • Identify most important skills for prospective sups to try and develop • Gather “fun” information to share about the job • What did participants want/need/know?

Class Overview: What’s it All About? • What does a first line supervisor do? • What skills do you have that make you well suited to supervision? • What skills do you need to develop to be more competitive? • Do you REALLY want to do this?
