Milestones in AKM’s History • 1933 – Assumed responsibility for the publication of Lehen is-Sewwa • 1939 – Energies diverted to the material and spiritual welfare of the people • 1949 – The Emigrants’ Commission was set up • 1950 – Founder member of the Union Mondialedes Enseignants Catholiques (UMEC) • 1950 – Organised Summer Camps for children from needy families • 1952 – Pioneered a radio programme for Women • 1962 – Instrumental for the setting up of the first Home for the Handicapped in Malta • 1962 – Entrusted with the Social Assistance Secretariat
Milestones • 1987 – Attended prayer meeting in Rome during the Bishops’ Synod on the Laity • 1990 – Founder members of IFCA • 1992 – Entrusted by the Archbishop to run the Holy Family Home for the Elderly • 1994 – Elected on the IFCA Secretariat • 1996 – Hosted the III IFCA European Meeting
Milestones • 1996 – The Youth Group (ZAK) started seeing a revival • 1999 - Active participation in the Diocesan Synod • 2000 - ZAK attended Jubilee 2000 World Youth Day • 2005 – Celebrations to mark the 75th Anniversary • 2006 – ZAK won the National Recognition for the work they do in favor of young people

New Maltese Saint Father George Preca will be declared Saint on the 3rd of June 2007. As early as 1907 Father George Preca: • understood the importance of the formation of the laity • believed in their contribution towards evangelisation • actively involved women in the work of evangelization
