  6. Glaciers are one of Alaska's most treasured natural wonders. We can describe them as rivers of ice that slowly move across the landscape, shaping the earth's surface and creating valleys and mountain ranges. They require three conditions for their formation - abundant snowfall, cold summers and gravitational flow of ice. There are two main types of glaciers: dry and wet. Dry glaciers are not covered with snow and there is good orientation on them. While wet glaciers are covered with snow and movement on them is much more dangerous. Alaska has about 100,000 glaciers, of which only about 600 are named. About one quarter of them are located in national parks. Their visit is one of the most sought-after experiences when visiting Alaska. As a result of climate change, many glaciers are retreating today. Glacier Bay belongs to the UNESCO world heritage. Existujú dva hlavné typy ľadovcov: suché a mokré.
