Computer Printed Deck Tread 1. Photograph the part where the graphic will be located & e-mail it to a computer. 2. Make a MS PowerPoint graphic over the photo, test fit it, & adjust. 3. Print the graphic on white 25% cotton fiber paper & white glue it in place.
Computer Printed Flight Deck Configurations 1. Part from Revell 1:530 ESSEX Class carrier kit. Original #3 Elevator Location Rectangular #1 Elevator Original ramp angle 2. Collect a graphic plan of a desired part and adjust it to closely approximate the size of the original part. 3. Modify the part to conform to graphic. 4. Use the graphic as a guide for decals & paint or glue a copy of the graphic printed on 25% cotton paper to the reconfigured part. Computer Printed Transom Configuration Original Part New or Reconfigured Part Part with Graphic Overlay 1. Take photo of model part to be upgraded & e-mail it to a computer, i.e. transom circa 1833 from Revell 1:196 Kit of USS CONSTITUTION 2. Take photo of printed material depicting desired component, i.e. earlier transom from “Anatomy of the Ship - The 44 Gun Frigate USS CONSTITUTION” & e-mail it to a computer. 3. Using MS PowerPoint, adjust the sizes of the photos so they fit the model. Then cut or augment the original part to conform to the outline of the print material photo or make a new part that does. The print material graphic may be printed on 25% cotton fiber paper, white glued to the new part, then additional parts, e.g. raised relief molding, can be added if/as necessary.
Computer Printed Ensigns, Jacks, & Signal Flags 1. Collect flag images in the same website set and scale from the Internet. Paste them in a MS PowerPoint slide in a column. Use “format” and “align center” and “distribute vertically”. Number this sheet “1”. 2. Insert a duplicate slide. Use “format” “rotate” and “flip horizontal” to create a reverse image. Number this sheet “2”. Print Sheet 1. Insert Sheet 1 inverted in your printer. Print sheet 2 on the reverse. You make have to repeat this until the images are aligned and printed back to back.
Computer Printed Campaign Ribbons & Logos 2. Purchase and photograph ribbons or collect ribbon images from the Internet. Place them on a MS PowerPoint page. Arrange ribbons in sequence per https://awards.navy.mil/awards/webbas01.nsf/(vwWebPage)/home.htm?OpenDocument. Use MS PowerPoint ‘format shape’ to “lock aspect ratio” and reduce image to model scale. 3. Print the scaled down ribbons on 25% cotton fiber paper. Use a felt tip marker or paint to color to paper edges gray. White glue the ribbons to the bridge wings. Note the Destroyer Squadron 13 logo on the side of the ship’s superstructure in the photograph is another scaled down image collected from the Internet. 1. Research ship namesake, design, builders, dates, history, awards, and fate by entering its type, e.g. destroyer, brig, yacht, and its name in Google.com or another Internet search engine. 2. Use MS PowerPoint to create an image of a model name plate that can be printed on glossyphoto paper and glued to the model base. The example identifies the ship in bold font and summarizes its significance to model viewers 4. In the example above, and on slide 2, a painted upper plate was engraved to expose brass lettering. The upper plate was mounted over a brass lower plate to form a 1/8” “frame”. • 3.
