Integrated Data Package • More information will be collected about vehicles, cargo, and passengers driving in New York City • Sensors incorporate machine-learning algorithms that make the sensors smarter about their environment and performance • All data will be captured into an Integrated Data Package (IDP) to include the vehicle’s license plate information, RFID information and other sensory data • The IDP can be used to generate a unique vehicle profile 4
Interpreting Data LPR UVID IDP VOIS Travel Patterns • Unique Vehicle Profile USDOT
Integrated Data Package and Unique Vehicle Profile: • Car Pool occurrences based on: • Trip times • Frequency of travel • Number of front seat passengers • Likely trip purpose: • Commuter • Ride share • Single unique trip • Freight-haul • Etc. • Weekday travel patterns vs. weekend travel patterns • DOT carrier specific information • Origination of vehicles on the roadway: • License plate number • State/province of origin • License plate type • Vehicle Identification: • POV • Commercial • Number of vehicles on the roadway: • Per hour • Per day • Peak travel hours • Congestion patterns • Customer travel patterns and travel consistency
Unique Vehicle Identifier Data Point 1: License Plate Data Point 4: Vehicle Occupancy Data Point 2: Sensor Technology Data Point 3: Vehicle Signature Unique Signature: VIDxx1 Unique Signature: VIDxx1 Unique Signature: VIDxx1 Unique Signature: VIDxx1 • A unique vehicle identifier (UVID) can be used to correlate all the data associated with the vehicle, cargo, and passengers as the vehicle travels through the city • The UVID can also serve as the unique vehicle identifier and be used as an additional database key to build vehicle profiles based on travel patterns • The UVID increases the confidence with which the vehicle’s history are maintained
Decoupling Data Collection from Data Processing • Embedded smart technology with all data processing occurring elsewhere, improving efficiency and security • Decoupling the data collection from the data processing, allowing for: • Maximum data capture in real time • Advanced data processing using unique algorithms providing for enhanced vehicle identification Smart Strobe Smart Camera

Utilizing Smart Technology to develop Unique Vehicle Profiles
Perceptics’ Central Management Console can be integrated with existing dashboards to monitor performance trends, predict equipment failures before they are likely to occur, and maximize equipment performance and system availability
Perceptics Central Management Console • The Central Management Console (CMC) provides a dashboard that monitors the health status of every lane connected to the network and gives real-time information on each device within the lanes • Remotely deploys software, configurations, and firmware updates to all authorized devices • Provide alerts when issues are detected
CMC Capabilities Real-time monitoring of all devices in the system: Read rate statistics Device error status Device information (model#, serial#, versions, configuration, etc.) Update audit logging (user, time, location, outcome) User authorization (user, maintenance, admin) controlled through Active Directory Device authentication Device grouping and access controlled through Active Directory Device history: versions (hardware, firmware, software, o/s, configuration), error status, reset/reboot
Security Improvements with Smart Devices The Perceptics Smart Imaging systems are designed with security in mind. • Each device is hardened using Department of Homeland Security Guidance • The web interface is restricted to HTTPS to protect transmitted information • The devices ensure that any access requiring authentication requires strong passwords • The devices have a minimal number of services and ports active • All communication between system components is encrypted and authenticated • The devices have secure logging for security events and send events to the CMC • The CMC ensures the device firmware and patches are maintained, and all updates are signed and transmitted through encrypted connections
Improved Security Functions with CMC The CMC will control all device software, configurations, and patch management. • The CMC manages all in lane-devices and OCR Servers and prevent unauthorized devices from being added to the system. • The CMC ensures each device is connected to a certified CMC and OCR server. • The in-lane, authorizeddevices connect to the CMC on start up and pull the latest signed software and configurations across an encrypted connection. • The CMC pushes the latest signed patches to all of its connected devices using an encrypted connection. • The CMC software resides in a secure LAN room on a computer hardened in compliance with Department of Homeland Security Guidance
Monitoring and Preventive Maintenance • Smart Imager and Smart Illuminator Functionality • Supports real-time status monitoring of key aspects of these vital components • Temperature measure indicates normal operation or possible failure of internal fans • Humidity sensors indicate possible failure of ingress protection seals • Ambient light sensor in imager automatically adjusts gain/illuminator intensity • Programmable light output control in illuminator can compensate for aging bulbs • A programmable lens in the imager verifies the lens settings • Trending of product lifecycle available to support scheduled maintenance activities and reduce non-scheduled downtime 2. Central Management Console (CMC) Software • Allows for constant real-time monitoring of the system health and status • Supports proactive maintenance activities via gathered statistics • Supports quick diagnostics to restore failed system to operation • Automatically pushes new software parameter updates and security patches to imagers and OCR servers • Automatically pushes software and parameters to replaced components (Auto-Config)
