  1. 2 Peter 1:12-13 "Therefore, I shall always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13 And I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder,"

  2. “Living Out Your Baptism”

  3. I. The Great Commission • Matthew 28:19-20 • make disciples of all nations • baptizing them

  4. Mark 16:15-16 • go into all the world and preach the Good News (the gospel) • anyone who has believed and been baptized shall be saved

  5. II. The Baptism That Saves You • Baptism - Greek BAPTO, bap'-to; a prim. verb; to whelm, i.e. cover wholly with a fluid; in the N.T. only in a qualified or spec. sense, i.e. (lit.) to moisten (a part of one's person), or (by impl.) to stain (as with dye):--dip.

  6. Common language • dying a garment by submerging it in the color dye • intent is to change the nature of the garment

  7. Three elements to baptism • the baptizer • the one being baptized • the element one is baptized into

  8. 1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." • baptizer - Holy Spirit • the baptized - we; believers • the element baptized into - the body of Christ

  9. III. Water Baptism • Believers Baptism • Acts 2:37-38 • repent • be baptized in Jesus name for forgiveness • receive the Holy Spirit

  10. Acts 8:36-38 • Philip explains the scriptures • came to water - what prevents me from being baptized? • V. 37 – “You can,” Philip answered, “If you believe with all your heart.” And the eunuch replied, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

  15. IV. Living Out Your Baptism • Colossians 2:12 – raised up with Jesus to a new life • Colossians 3- 4:6 - putting to death the old self and walking in newness of life made practical

  18. verses 18-4:6 - in all your relationships and in all you do

  19. Conclusion • Have you received the Baptism into Christ? • Have you followed up that with water baptism as a believer? • Are you living out your baptism?
