October Maintain good grades Consider afterschool tutoring – Lion’s Learning Lab Challenge yourself academically; colleges are looking for rigor in your schedule Keep in mind 17 credits needed to be senior next year 23 credits in the correct areas needed to graduate Begin preparing for EOCT and GHSGT Remember: You may either pass the GHSGT or substitute a passing score on one of the EOCT offered in each subject: English/Math/Science

EOCT Subjects are: Mathematics • Mathematics I: Algebra/GPS Algebra • Mathematics II: Geometry/GPS Geometry Social Studies • United States History • Economics Science • Biology • Physical Science English Language Arts • Ninth Grade Literature and Composition • American Literature and Composition

GHSGT Testing Dates: 3/19/12 – 3/23/12  GHSGT Test Preparation: Westlake Guidance Department's Website EOCT Testing Dates: 4/30/12 – 05/04/12 EOCT Study Guides: Go to Westlake's Guidance Department Continue to research post secondary schools Obtain testing schedule for SAT I, ACT and SAT Subject Test

November Note upcoming SAT/ACT registration deadlines and exam dates and continue to work on test preparation Attend SAT/ACT prep workshops Free ACT Practice Test – November 19, 2011 at 8am – Westlake’s Cafeteria Use GA College 411 website to take interest assessment   Research Post Secondary Options : Four Year College, Two Year College, Military Arm Forces, Technical School Continue to maintain to good grades  Review your goals; in what areas do I need to study more?

  7. December Prepare for final exams Continue preparation for GHSGT and EOCT Narrow your college choices to five colleges Continue college visits Familiarize yourself with college terminology If you play a sport, register for the NCAA clearing house – www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

January Register now for ACT / SAT test ACT/SAT websites for registration www.actstudent.org and www.collegeboard.com Use the access code on your PSAT/NMSQT score report to sign in to My College Quick Start. Use this tool to prepare for the SAT based on your PSAT/NMSQT results. Meet with counselor for Mid-year evaluation for senior year classes Look at grades that need improvement and develop a plan for recovery Consider job shadowing and volunteer work to learn more about potential careers Review PSAT results with counselor Continue preparation for GHSGT and/or EOCT
