Let’s Get to Know One Another • Starting at one side of the room each person will state their name and one detail about themselves. • As we go around the room each person will have to remember what all the people before him/her said and state it. • The last person will have to state everyone’s name and detail. • When all of the students finish I( Mr. Wood) will have to state everyone’s name and detail. If I miss more than 4, the students win and will receive an extra 10 minutes of PE one day next week. If I do not miss more than 4, the students will have to tell me that I am the best teacher in the whole world for a week.
Rules and Procedures • Classroom Rules • I will get permission before I speak. • I will get permission before I leave my seat. • I will have all materials ready. • I will keep hands and feet to myself. • I will use acceptable words and gestures at all times.
Rules and ProceduresContinued • I will keep a daily discipline log for each class. • Each time you break a rule you will receive a tally mark. • At the end of the nine weeks the amount of tally marks you receive determine your grade.
Rules and ProceduresContinued Serious infractions will result in more tally marks being added. Some of these are listed below: • Bullying 3 tally marks • Fighting 10 tally marks • Damage to school property 5 tally marks
Rules and ProceduresContinued • The classroom discipline log process starts fresh each day. • At the end of the nine weeks I will use the following scale to determine your conduct grade:
HomeworkHomework will count as 5% of your overall grade. • Alabama History • Alabama History homework will be given periodically as needed. • It will be due the following day unless otherwise stated. • Language/Grammar • A writing assignment will be assigned each Monday and due on Friday. • Spelling • Monday – Write each word 3 times • Tuesday- Write a sentence with each word • Wednesday – No homework • Thursday – Study for test
Make-Up Work Make up work is due within 3 days of returning to school.
Extra Credit Assignment Any student may earn 5 points extra credit on any test by bringing in a news article and sharing it with the class. The article has to affect the state of Alabama in some way. The student has to bring a copy of the article and a short written summary.
