Trail Research Make sure to research which trails are appropriate for bringing dogs. Just because a trail is labeled as “dog friendly” doesn’t mean you can let your dog off the leash. Respect your fellow hikers and keep Fido close to you at all times. Water Seems obvious, but don’t forget to pack water for your dog. We have a wonderful canine backpack that allows our dog to carry his own water. We pack a small collapsible dog bowl. It’s win-win for everyone. Safety When camping with your dog, make sure they stay close to the campsite. Put a light-up collar on them and if you need to, tie them up. It’s safer for the dogs and it’s safer for other unsuspecting campers who could be alarmed if an unleashed animal comes wandering into their campsite.
