SOAR: Student Occupational Awareness & Recognition The Student Occupational Awareness and Recognition Program (SOAR) aims to expose, educate, and engage students in career development and decision-making, providing valuable resources to help them become workforce ready. Classroom Career Course/Workshop Topics: 1 2 Exploring Potential and Career Assessment: Self-assessment surveys, reflection exercises, and career exploration tools. Career Research and Exploration: Online resources, informational interviews, and job shadowing. 3 4 Education and Training Pathways: Information about high school coursework, college, vocational schools, and lifelong learning opportunities. Goal Setting and Career Planning: Teaching students to set SMART ((Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals. 5 6 Financial Literacy and Budgeting: Budgeting, saving, managing student loans, and understanding employment compensation.
