Scope • The measurement of the existing ambient noise (day and night time). • A noise study of the future impact during construction and operation of the proposed desalination plant, taking into consideration sensitive receptors. • Noise impacts associated with construction of the power line on sensitive receptors.

  3. Methodology • SANS 10103:2008 Version 6 - The measurement and rating of environmental noise with respect to annoyance and to speech communication. • SANS 10328, Methods for environmental noise impact assessments. • SANS 10357, The calculation of sound propagation by the Concawe method.

  4. Outputs • Prediction of the extent of the noise emitted from the plant • Recommendations to mitigate the noise pollution
