  1. Ephesians 1:15-17 15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him…

  2. Ephesians 1:18-20 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places…

  3. Ephesians 1:21-23 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

  4. A.W. Tozer “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”

  5. The Knowledge of God Such a knowledge of God was referred to by Charles Spurgeon as “the highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of a child of God…” For Spurgeon, the knowledge of God is the believer’s understanding of “the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls Father.”

  6. The Knowledge of God “He who often thinks of God, will have a larger mind than the man who simply plods around this narrow globe.”

  7. Ephesians 1:3-14 EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING “IN CHRIST” Divine Election (1:3-4) Divine Predestination (1:5) Divine Grace (1:6) Divine Redemption (1:7) Divine Forgiveness (1:7) Divine Illumination (1:8-9) Divine Economy (1:10) Divine Inheritance (1:11) Divine Sealing (1:13) Divine Guarantee (1:14) Divine Knowledge (1:15-23)

  8. The Knowledge of the Holy • I. Who Needs the Knowledge of the Holy? (15-16) 15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints 16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers… Those who need to “know” God are those who have a sense of communion with the Father through Christ, AND a sense of communion, something in common with; fellowship with all others whom Christ has saved. Such a faith and love did not originate in us!

  9. The Knowledge of the Holy • How Important is the Knowledge of the Holy? 16 [I] do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers… As Paul heard about the Ephesian believers' faith in Christ and of their love for all the saints – all this moved him to pray earnestly for them. Paul was compelled to thank God for them; but even more than that, it moved Paul to pray that they would know the things that they needed to know…

  10. Ephesians 3:14-19 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

  11. The Knowledge of the Holy • How Do We Obtain the Knowledge of the Holy? 17 …that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. We are reminded that it is only by the grace – the unmerited favor of our glorious Heavenly Father that any one of us could come to truly “know” the richness and fullness of our spiritual blessings in Christ. Paul prays for “wisdom” and “revelation” to be given to the believers.

  12. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 9 but just as it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." 10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

  13. Ephesians 4:18 “being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart…”

  14. Jeremiah 9:23-24 23 Thus says the Lord, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the Lord.

  15. Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
