  4. Fisher Range in British Columbia • Current range is approximately 200 km north of the international border. • The extent of occupation of this current range is unknown. • Weir 2003

  5. Effective fisher conservation requires coordination and management of habitat across administrative, state, and international boundaries.

  6. Interagency Assessment and Strategy Will Facilitate; Coordinating Data Collection and Analysis in the West Coast DPS Coordination with Private Timber Companies on CCAA Development Coordinating Information Exchange Between States and Federal Agencies, NGO’s and Private Industry Cooperation & Involvement as an Interagency Conservation Program Coordination of Research & Monitoring Through the Fisher Science Team Integration of Fisher Conservation in Agency Programs

Assimilating research, monitoring , survey information to develop a comprehensive assessment and strategy For example: • Tribes: Development and implementation of long-term population monitoring using genetic tagging for Pacific fisher on the Hoopa Valley Reservation, Ca • Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Fisher Reintroduction Program • Multiple independent studies being conducted by private timber companies. • Ongoing research and monitoring being conducted by PNW, PSW and USFS Region 5

  8. Pacific Fisher CCAA with Sierra Pacific Industries and Green Diamond Resource Company Habitat Conservation Measures: SPI manages 1,218,648 acres of forestland within the historical range of fisher

  9. Other listed species which use similar habitat • Spotted owl (northern and California) • Marbled murrelet
