ACT II SCENE 1 • Midnight • Macbeth has a hallucination of a dagger dripping with blood. • Macbeth decides to kill Duncan!
ACT II SCENE 2 • Duncan is killed! • Knife is given to the guards to make them look responsible for Duncan’s murder. • “What hands are here!...the multitudinous seas incarnadine/making the green one red.” –Macbeth • Macbeth can not wash off the fact that he killed Duncan
ACT II SCENE 3 • Strange omens: screams, winds, owls, cries, and horses are going wild!! • The King’s two chamberlains are suspected of Duncan’s murder. • Lady Macbeth faints at the news of the murder.
ACT II SCENE 4 • Malcolm and Donalbain are suspected of murder because they ran away • Who has been named Duncan’s successor?
