Introduction to PSE • Traditionally, public health efforts have been aimed at individual-level health changes. • Minimally effective, costly, and difficult to sustain. • Individual lifestyle choices are only one part of our ability to live healthy, productive lives. • PSE change uses a socio-ecological model, recognizing that individuals and their behavioral choices are situated within and influenced by their broader social and environmental context. • The choices we make are shaped by the choices we have.
