  2. Ideas: Where to startLike other libraries’ pages, follow authors on twitter, attend conferences, USE PINTEREST, utilize holidays / monthly themes, follow blogs, & be prepared for YA books-turned-movies!

  3. Ideas: Start at HomeWhat skills do you & your coworkers have? Miss Ruth helping with Knitting Club Miss Yanet’s Hedgehog Show-&-Tell 8-week How to Read Music course

  4. Folk Rock Band Ideas: Who you know! State Trooper Henna Artist Choreographer Organic Chef Look at your own list of friends & colleagues. You’d be surprised who would come in & run a program for you for free! Local Author

  5. Teens: Where to start • Start with who you have: TAB • Get them in the door? Well, that’s harder. - Partner with community organizations - Partner with your school librarian(s) & school clubs - Make an appearance at Back to School night & PTO mtgs! - Twitter & Instagram! - Parents are still on Facebook! - Grass roots & word of mouth can go a long way!

  8. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Take a chance! Try something new! And please, have a sense of humor!

Everything has a shelf life…(& some things have 9 lives!) • Don’t “overuse” a program. • Make it special & end on a high note! • Give programs time frame (6-week series?) • RECYCLE & REVISIT AWESOME PROGRAMS! • Timing is everything! • Didn’t work in the Winter? Try Spring! • Didn’t work on a weeknight? Try Saturday! • (Always check the school calendar BTW) • Start small & build. • A TAB of 3 is still awesome! • Offer incentives for bringing friends! • Always ask for feedback • Surveys, TAB feedback, etc.
