  4. 標題Title • First impressions are strong impressions; a title ought therefore to be well studied, and to give, so far as its limits permits, a definite and concise indication of what is to come.--T. Clifford Allbutt • 用簡單的文字精確表述該篇文章的內容，描述文章的內容，而且能夠表達和相關文章的不同處。大多數讀者通常僅閱讀標題，資訊提供者（abstracting service）亦非常依賴標題。

  9. 標題縮寫 • 在標題中，盡量避免abbreviations、chemical formulas、proprietary（專利商標）、專門術語（jargon）等，因為這些都會影響到資料的檢索，例如鹽酸hydrochloric acid，一般都會以hydrochloric acid搜尋，假如標題出現HCl，則不會被搜尋到，雖然一些縮寫如DNA、PCR等，但是在標題中仍然應該盡量避免。

  11. 作者 Authors • 作者應該是參與實驗的策劃與執行的人，是負責發表文章intellectual responsibility（學術責任）的人 • 沒有參與，不管官位多大，皆不應要求列名為作者

  12. Authors • First Author (senior author) • 指排名第一的作者，主要是研究的執行者 • Corresponding author • 連絡作者，負責文章的投稿、和編輯互動、和讀者連絡、抽印本的購買、分送等工作的負責人，通常是實驗室的主持人。 • * 附記
