  4. 1.What is Captain Barbier's reading system? It is a system with dots and dashes called Sonography used by the blind people to help them read and write. 2. Why was Louis disappointed by Captain Barbier's system? He was disappointed because this system took too long to use and had no spelling or punctuation. 3. Why did Louis experiment his method during the night? He experimented his method during the night because his days were filled with classes and activities.

  5. 4. How was Braille's symbols different from captain Barbier's? Braille’s symbols were different because they were based on letters and not sounds. 5. Why was Braille's code simple? It was simple because it allowed him to represent any letter of the alphabet within a space of a fingertip. 6. Describe Dr. Pignier's reaction to Louis's system. He was enthusiastic ( strong feeling of eagerness and interest)
