Admission Requirements/Options If a prospective student has: • Minimum 1200 combined Math & Critical Reading SAT score, top 30% of HS class and minimum 3.0 GPA - Admission Office authorized to admit to SOE • Minimum 600 Math SAT, top 30% HS class and minimum 3.0 GPA – Application is reviewed by Assistant Dean and each case is evaluated individually
Admission Requirements/Options • All other applicants are eligible to take a freshmen engineering course in addition to the required math and science courses and will be admitted to SOE in January providing they have earned a minimum semester 2.7 GPA.
Undergraduate Enrollment • Freshmen enrollment has increased by 65% compared to Fall 2000 • Total UG enrollment has increased by 50% to 1690 students • Over 330 students on Scholarship (236 continuing students and 100 entering freshmen)
Undergraduate Enrollment con’t. • Typical admitted student profile for Fall 07: 1294 combined Critical Reading & Math SAT score. • SOE has the highest percentage of honors students of any of the 10 schools at Uconn (13%) • Admitted students for fall 08 include 31 Valedictorians and 19 Salutatorians
SOE Scholarships • $728,000 academic merit scholarships offered to Fall 08 entering students. • Awarding approximately $550,000 to 236 continuing students on Tuesday, April 9, 2008.

School of Engineering Facilities • This building housing Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering – completed in May 2003 • A new Engineering Building as part of 21st Century UConn • Engineering complex and physical plant comprises eight existing structures at the Storrs and adjoining Depot Campus • Teaching and research laboratories with $25 million in state-of-the-are equipment • $147 million sophisticated engineering graphics and analysis software • School maintains its own network of computing services (ECS)
School of Engineering’s Future Plans • Achieve recognition as the most comprehensive public engineering program in the Northeast, become a regional center for excellence by: Recruiting, embracing, supporting, and retaining excellent students, faculty and staff
How will this be achieved? • Recruit top students by offering innovative programs in Engineering and Technology and world renowned faculty such at our Eminent Faculty positions in Energy Conversion • Retain students by offering various resources – UG Research, MAT Center, Peer Tutoring, student societies, mentoring • Full time faculty teach all our courses and advise your daughters and sons. • Serve as the major supplier of well-trained engineers (over 14000 graduates)
